I’m the type of girl who loves to dream and read. I love that moment when you flip a page and sink into it, you can escape from the world, into a story that is way more interesting than yours will ever be. I started reading this book when I was young, around my high school days. I remember being thrilled every time I am reading this story and brings me pain at the same time. The witness of my every emotion while reading this book is Isla Gigantes, a hidden gem that lies behind Iloilo, a place where memories are made and rediscovered. As you read this, I will delve you into a story of a girl who wakes up in this island with no memories and together we will find out how did she rediscover herself with the fabric of this island paradise.

The story of this girl's journey is a testament to the power of place. Imagine how scary it was waking up without any memories you have. This was the reality of woman whose journey led her to Isla Gigantes. The island, with its tranquil atmosphere and breathtaking scenery, became her sanctuary, a place where fragments of her forgotten life began to resurface. Alongside was the love of her life named Ali that she forgot also. I can’t even imagine how much pain Ali has every time the girl he loves looks at her with no feelings, she looks at him just like a normal person. Ali who sacrificed everything even their company just to take care of Aia– the girl with no memories. And you know what hurts me even more? Aia’s memory is slowly returning with the help of the island but without Ali’s fragments. Ali did his best just so Aia will remember everything even if he’s not part of that memories. The worst and iconic line from that book? “Magsasayaw tayo para makaalala ka” Beside the scorching waves and in the middle of the pouring rain, they dance and dance until Aia’s contented.
As you hear the gentle sway of the palm trees, the rhythmic crashing of waves, and the warmth of the sun seemed to trigger something within her. Each sunrise brought a new glimmer of recognition, a fleeting image, a half-remembered feeling and the love and patience of Ali for Aia brought back the memories she lost. With the scent Isla Gigantes together with its inherent beauty and calming energy, it became a catalyst for healing and remembrance. It's a place where the soul can find solace, where the mind can unravel its mysteries, and where the past can gently reveal itself. Isla Gigantes serves as witness for Ali’s strong love and the challenges they faced during their relationship.
Isla Gigantes serves as a dream destination for me not because it’s part of the story that I read but because it’s also a place where the beauty of the landscape mirrors the beauty of the human spirit, a place where the past, present, and future intertwine. I think it’s a bonus if I will meet the Ali of my life when I visit Isla Gigantes. เซฎ₍ ˶> ˔ <˶ ₎แ But right now, it’s a place that will stay with you long after you've left its shores.
